| Abstract: | Describes research conducted by authors since 1975 on extensive archaeological remains of Balaena mysticetus on Somerset Island and nearby islands. Ca. 10,500 bones, representing almost 1000 animals, have been counted on six adjacent islands (Somerset, Prince of Wales, Bathurst, Cornwallis, Devon and Baffin). Outlines context of research and summarizes major results to date. |
