| Abstract: | Reports initial results of field research in South Shetland Islands into relationships between krill, their predators, and key environmental parameters. Includes physical oceanography studies; direct krill and zooplankton sampling; hydroacoustic survey of krill for prey organisms; phytoplankton studies; logistics, operations, seal and seabird research at Seal Island; seabird and Adélie penguin research at Palmer station; whale identification; census of Antarctic fur seal colonies of South Shetland Islands; CCAMLR inspection of Russian krill fishing vessel Pyotr Sgibnev; and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons studied in coastal area of Elephant Island. |
