Abstract: Good correlation needed between chemical composition of falling snow and atmospheric aerosols to obtain information on ancient global and atmospheric environments from chemical study of polar ice. For this purpose, samples of atmospheric aerosols and snow were analyzed for methane sulphonic acid, Cl, NO₃, SO₄, Na, K, Ca, Mg, and heavy metals (Fe, Al, Zn, Cu). Results showed positive correlation between atmospheric aerosols and surface snow.
