Record #120421:

Pliocene--Pleistocene seismic stratigraphy of the Ross Sea: evidence for multiple ice-sheet grounding episodes / Belén Alonso, John B. Anderson, José I. Díaz, Louis Robert Bartek.

Title: Pliocene--Pleistocene seismic stratigraphy of the Ross Sea: evidence for multiple ice-sheet grounding episodes / Belén Alonso, John B. Anderson, José I. Díaz, Louis Robert Bartek.
Author(s): Alonso, Belén.
Anderson, John B.
Díaz, José I.
Bartek, Louis Robert.
Date: 1992.
In: Antarctic Research Series. (1992.), Vol. 57 (1992)
Abstract: Distribution, morphology and thickness of deposits were mapped using high-resolution seismic reflection data acquired during 1980 cruise, It was hoped that these profiles would provide direct evidence for or against ice-sheet advance and retreat on Ross Sea continental shelf and for or against temperate interglacial episodes. Second objective was to identify areas where future drilling might recover relatively complete Pliocene--Pleistocene section that would allow detailed study of relationships between waxing and waning ice sheets on shelf and global sea-level changes. Summarizes results.
