Record #120397:

Modern and Little Ice Age equilibrium-line altitudes on outlet valley glaciers from Jostedalsbreen, western Norway: an evaluation of different approaches to their calculation / Ingrid Torsnes, Noralf Rye, Atle Nesje.

Title: Modern and Little Ice Age equilibrium-line altitudes on outlet valley glaciers from Jostedalsbreen, western Norway: an evaluation of different approaches to their calculation / Ingrid Torsnes, Noralf Rye, Atle Nesje.
Author(s): Torsnes, Ingrid.
Rye, Noralf.
Nesje, Atle.
Date: 1992.
In: Arctic and Alpine Research. (1992.), Vol. 25(2) (1992)
Abstract: Equilibrium-line altitudes (ELAs) of 20 glaciers were calculated using four approaches: accumulation area ratio; Kuhle's (1988) method; median elevation of glaciers; and toe-to-headwall altitude ratio, Differences in results can be attributed to differences in topography and morphology of glaciers. Accumulation area method seems to provide most reliable results.
