Abstract: Eskers form part of extensive spread of fluvioglacial sediments that cover coastal lowlands on southern side of Moray Firth between Inverness and Elgin. Deposits were laid down by meltwaters draining north-eastwards from wastage of Late Devensian ice sheet. Form almost continuous series of ridges, 5 to 10 m high and 10 km long.
