Microwave remote sensing of polynyas / Seelye Martin, Konrad Steffen, Josefino C. Comiso, Donald J. Cavalieri, Mark R. Drinkwater, Benjamin Holt.
Title: | Microwave remote sensing of polynyas / Seelye Martin, Konrad Steffen, Josefino C. Comiso, Donald J. Cavalieri, Mark R. Drinkwater, Benjamin Holt. |
Author(s): | Martin, Seelye. Steffen, Konrad. Comiso, Josefino C. Cavalieri, Donald J. Drinkwater, Mark R. Holt, Benjamin. |
Date: | 1992. |
Publisher: | Washington, DC: American Geophysical Union |
In: | Microwave remote sensing of sea ice. (1992.), |
Abstract: | Deals with winter polynyas. Polynyas are sites of large exchanges of heat between atmosphere and ocean. Systematic study began with advent of passive microwave satellites. Discusses limitations and potential of this technique for detection and mapping, and oceanographic and climatic role of winter polynyas in northern and southern hemispheres. |
