Record #119847:

Plant colonisation and geodynamics of slopes in a polar oceanic environment (Svalbard 75°N) / Marie-Françoise André.

Title: Plant colonisation and geodynamics of slopes in a polar oceanic environment (Svalbard 75°N) / Marie-Françoise André.
Author(s): André, Marie-Françoise.
Date: 1992.
In: Polar Geography and Geology. (1992.), Vol. 16(4) (1992)
Abstract: Study of plant colonisation patterns and lichenometry has identified stages in slope evolution during Holocene. Neoglacial period is suggested as base for lobate glaciers. Recurrence interval of debris flows and slush avalanches estimated as 70-600 years. Active and stable deposits distinguished bearing in mind spring runoff and summer percolation. Stability of lichen Rhizocarpon geographicum colonising acidic boulders helps reconstruction.
