Abstract: Reindeer herding in fresh air avoids much sickness. In huts and houses TB and similar diseases are rife. On mountains, main ills are from freezing, falls, headaches or toothache. Result there is self-sufficiency, with herbal medicines, fresh reindeer blood, bleeding or cupping. There used to be spells, but now most treatment is more rational. Full account with dialogue is given of treatment of damaged eye of Dean Lützow-Holm and healer Kaaven's reputation is described. He knew his own limitations, so was trusted.
