Record #119698:

Self-organization of glacial landforms / Viktor L. Mazo.

Title: Self-organization of glacial landforms / Viktor L. Mazo.
Author(s): Mazo, Viktor L.
Date: 1992.
Abstract: Trough valleys with stepped longitudinal profiles and cirques are common features of glaciated terrain. Joint dynamic system comprising eroding glacier or ice sheet and eroded bed describes formation. Ice is modelled as layer of viscous incompressible fluid flowing down inclined bed. Dynamics of small transverse and longitudinal perturbations of bed are studied; these develop into trough valleys, stepped longitudinal profiles, and cirques.
