A look at lake effect snow cloudbands with satellite imagery / T.A. Niziol, J.M. Levan.
Title: | A look at lake effect snow cloudbands with satellite imagery / T.A. Niziol, J.M. Levan. |
Author(s): | Niziol, T. A. Levan, J. M. |
Date: | 1992. |
In: | Eastern Snow Conference. Proceedings. (1992.), Vol. 49th Annual Meeting (1992) |
Abstract: | Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GEOSAT) imagery provides visible and infrared images over Great Lakes. Discusses advantages and limits of satellite imagery as forecast tool. Examples of these images will show various types of lake-effect cloudbands common to Great Lakes, including wind parallel single and multiple bands, "enhanced" bands that develop on upwind lakes, and thermally induced cloudbands. |
Notes: | Eastern Snow Conference. Proceedings. Vol. 49th Annual Meeting :235-242 (1992). |
