Record #119475:

Active rock glaciers and the lower limit of discontinuous alpine permafrost, Khumbu Himalaya, Nepal / Matthias Jakob.

Title: Active rock glaciers and the lower limit of discontinuous alpine permafrost, Khumbu Himalaya, Nepal / Matthias Jakob.
Author(s): Jakob, Matthias.
Date: 1992.
In: Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (1992.), Vol. 3(3) (1992)
Abstract: Seismic refraction studies were carried out on four rock glaciers. P-wave velocities at profiles on south-east-facing slopes indicate that lower limit of discontinuous permafrost is between 5560 and 5360 m a.s.l. On west-facing slopes, lower limit varies between 4959 and 5050 m a.s.l. These values agree with elevations of termini of active rock glaciers.
