| Abstract: | Three main moraine systems and other discontinuous glaciogenic deposits have been recognized at Herminita peninsula on eastern side of southern Patagonia Icefield. Describes moraine deposits of Herminita glacial stage defined here, moraines and proglacial deposits of Pearson I and II glacial stages and clastic products produced by more recent, small historical advances. Based on data obtained, mean retreat rate of Upsala glacier was calculated to be 60 m a⁻¹ for last 60 years. By extrapolation, age of last main glacial readvance was dated from 1800 AD, and corresponds to moraine system of Pearson II glaciation. |
