Foraminifera from the Irish Sea glacigenic deposits at Aberdaron, western Lleyn, north Wales: palaeoenvironmental implications / William E.N. Austin, Danny McCarroll.
Title: | Foraminifera from the Irish Sea glacigenic deposits at Aberdaron, western Lleyn, north Wales: palaeoenvironmental implications / William E.N. Austin, Danny McCarroll. |
Author(s): | Austin, William E. N. McCarroll, Danny. |
Date: | 1992. |
In: | Journal of Quaternary Science : JQS. (1992.), Vol. 7(4) (1992) |
Abstract: | Foraminifera were obtained from samples located specifically in order to differentiate between opposing models of depositional environment. All diamict samples yielded remarkably uniform assemblages, as predicted by terrestrial model of sedimentation, where all sediments are interpreted as being derived from melting of glacier ice rich in marine debris entrained during passgae along Irish Sea basin. No support for glacial marine model. |
Notes: | Journal of Quaternary Science : JQS. Vol. 7(4) :311-317 (1992). |
Keywords: | 551.33 -- Glacial geology. 551.332.2 -- Drift, glacial. Deposits. 551.583.3 -- Climatic changes, Quaternary. E7 -- Glaciology: glacial geology and ice ages. (429) -- Wales. |
