Record #119414:

Some results from the Labrador Ice Margin Experiment / Soren Peter Kjeldsen, Richard Bjarne Olsen.

Title: Some results from the Labrador Ice Margin Experiment / Soren Peter Kjeldsen, Richard Bjarne Olsen.
Author(s): Kjeldsen, Soren Peter.
Olsen, Richard Bjarne.
Date: 1992.
Publisher: Golden, CO: International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE)
In: Proceedings of the Second (1992) International Offshore and Polar Engineering Conference. Vol. 2. (1992.),
Abstract: Describes discovery of sea waves below ice cover in Labrador Sea. Directional spectra of sea waves below ice were measured with airborne synthetic aperture radar. Wave energy was found far into ice, not only at margin. Theoretical model was developed that shows how waves can break ice during storms. Discusses navigational difficulties that can arise.
Notes:

In: The proceedings of the Second (1992) International Offshore and Polar Engineering Conference. Vol. 2 / Michael S. Triantafyllou, Jin S. Chung, Karel Karal, Alfred L. Tunik, eds.
