Record #119235:
Motion of particles in wet snow / H. Conway, T. Gades, Charles F. Raymond.
Title: | Motion of particles in wet snow / H. Conway, T. Gades, Charles F. Raymond. |
Author(s): | Conway, H. Gades, T. Raymond, Charles F. |
Date: | 1992. |
In: | Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (1992.), Vol. 73(43, fall meeting supplement) (1992) |
Abstract: | Abstract only. Reports laboratory experiments on mobility of particles of carbon (size <1 μm) and St Helens ash (<8 μm) through wet snow. Results provide information about evolution of particle concentration and albedo on melting snow surfaces subjected to depositions of these particles. Carbon was highly mobile and cannot be used as stratigraphic marker. Can cause significantly reduced albedo in melt season. Ash provides relatively stable stratigraphic marker, and affects albedo until buried by snow. |
