Abstract: | Abstract only. Measurements carried out in May 1990 on Glacier No. 1, Ürümqi river basin, China, in effort to examine differences in calculations resulting from sampling and estimation procedures. Permanent stake network provides accurate estimate of total mass balance, but estimates for particular regions of glacier were not accurate. Digital elevation models coupled with analytical capabilities common to typical GIS were accurate. |
