Record #119142:
Surface velocity fields of ice streams D and E, west Antarctica / T.A. Scambos, Robert A. Bindschadler.
Title: | Surface velocity fields of ice streams D and E, west Antarctica / T.A. Scambos, Robert A. Bindschadler. |
Author(s): | Scambos, T. A. Bindschadler, Robert A. |
Date: | 1992. |
In: | Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (1992.), Vol. 73(43, fall meeting supplement) (1992) |
Abstract: | Abstract only. Sequential Landsat images were used to map surface velocity by tracking small ice features (crevasses, snow dunes) in coregistered images; this has now been almost completed. Three areas of interest are discussed in detail: sticky spots, upstream onset areas where small slowly flowing tributaries converge to form main trunk of Ice Stream E, and side-entrant areas where ice from nearly stagnant inter-ice-stream ridges appears to merge with fast-flowing trunk. |
Notes: | Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. Vol. 73(43, fall meeting supplement) :182 (1992). |
