Abstract: Abstract only. Over four winters, physical characteristics of snow cover have been observed and measured to provide base on which to develop objective snow-cover classification, relate this to heat and mass transfer characteristics, and document range of characteristics in each class due to spatial and temporal variability. Results are discussed.
