Record #118985:

Aspects of the biology of the midge, Eretmoptera murphyi Schaeffer (Diptera: Chironomidae), introduced to Signy Island, maritime Antarctic / Peter Convey.

Title: Aspects of the biology of the midge, Eretmoptera murphyi Schaeffer (Diptera: Chironomidae), introduced to Signy Island, maritime Antarctic / Peter Convey.
Author(s): Convey, Peter.
Date: 1992.
In: Polar Biology. (1992.), Vol. 12(6-7) (1992)
Abstract: Describes biology of a population of chironomid midge presumably introduced to Signy from South Georgia or the Falkland Islands during transplant experiments in 1967. Study focuses on 1) reproductive investment in egg batches, 2) influence of temperature on oviposition and subsequent development rates, and 3) anti-desiccation adaptation shown by egg batches.
