Climate at the equilibrium line of glaciers / Atsumu Ohmura, Peter Kasser, Martin Funk.

Title: Climate at the equilibrium line of glaciers / Atsumu Ohmura, Peter Kasser, Martin Funk.
Author(s): Ohmura, Atsumu.
Kasser, Peter.
Funk, Martin.
Date: 1992.
In: Journal of Glaciology. (1992.), Vol. 38(130) (1992)
Abstract: Investigates relationships between temperature, precipitation and radiation on equilibrium lines, using 70 mid-latitude and polar glaciers for which mass balance and meteorological observations have been carried out for long periods. Found that climate prevailing at equilibrium lines can be identified as function of annual total precipitation and summer temperature in free atmosphere. Can be improved by introducing global and long-wave net radiation. Results offer possibility of identifying altitudes in climate models where glacierization should begin, and to evaluate mass-balance changes resulting from climate change.
