Abstract: Uses acoustic data to examine Quaternary sediments that lie in and adjacent to deep trough underlying north channel. Sediments are divided into seismic units with reference to regional seismostratigraphic framework recently proposed for northwest gulf and estuary of river. Sequence can be related to lithostratigraphies from estuary shores, and so to chronostratigraphic reconstructions of Late Wisconsinan deglaciation. Continuous vertical and horizontal coverage afforded by seismic profiles allows improved understanding of large-scale geometry and relationships of these glacial to postglacial sediments, and depositional and erosional events.
