| Abstract: | Methane sulphonic acid (MSA) in ice core from Dolleman Island shows significantly high concentrations compared to values recorded in ice cores and in snowfall from elsewhere in Antarctica. MSA data from two other higher-altitude Antarctic Peninsula cores show that high concentrations measured at Dolleman Island are not representative of whole peninsula. However, mean molar MSA/nss-SO₄²⁻ ratios at these three sites are similar. Cause of these results is discussed. |
