Record #118789:

A cryogenic wedge within gravels, north of Kempten, Bavaria, F.R.G. / John Menzies, Karl Albert Habbe.

Title: A cryogenic wedge within gravels, north of Kempten, Bavaria, F.R.G. / John Menzies, Karl Albert Habbe.
Author(s): Menzies, John.
Habbe, Karl Albert.
Date: 1992.
In: Zeitschrift für Geomorphologie. (1992.), Vol. 36(3) (1992)
Abstract: Describes this large fossil wedge, found within complex terminal moraine system of Würm Late Pleniglacial. Wedge occurred within ice-contact sands and gravels, and is significant in helping to understand palaeoenvironmental conditions before advances of Iller glacier ice lobe, which formed Wilpoldsried drumlin fields to south, and in providing further information on possible thermal conditions beneath advancing ice masses in this area.
