Record #118786:

The development of an ice-dammed lake: the contemporary and older sedimentary record / Jennifer N. Kasper, Peter G. Johnson.

Title: The development of an ice-dammed lake: the contemporary and older sedimentary record / Jennifer N. Kasper, Peter G. Johnson.
Author(s): Kasper, Jennifer N.
Johnson, Peter G.
Date: 1992.
In: Arctic and Alpine Research. (1992.), Vol. 24(4) (1992)
Abstract: Ice-dammed lake on northern margin of Kaskawulsh Glacier, St Elias Mountains, Yukon, has drained annually for at least 30 to 40 years. Describes processes involved, as history of sedimentation record may aid in interpretation of behaviour of larger lakes and hazards posed with continued downwasting and backwasting or readvance of glaciers. Suggests that continuing downwasting of glacier will eventually remove conditions for damming.
