Record #118782:

Glacio-isostatic crustal movements caused by historical volume change of the Vatnajökull ice cap, Iceland / Freysteinn Sigmundsson, Páll Einarsson.

Title: Glacio-isostatic crustal movements caused by historical volume change of the Vatnajökull ice cap, Iceland / Freysteinn Sigmundsson, Páll Einarsson.
Author(s): Sigmundsson, Freysteinn.
Einarsson, Páll.
Date: 1992.
In: Geophysical Research Letters. (1992.), Vol. 19(21) (1992)
Abstract: Measurements of level of Langisjór indicate tilt away from ice cap in years 1959-91. Tilt is large but can be explained by sub-lithospheric viscous adjustment. Regional subsidence in historical times in south-east Iceland can also be attributed to viscous adjustment resulting from increased load of Vatnajökull during Little Ice Age. Inferred sub-lithospheric viscosity is 1x10¹⁸ to 5x10¹⁹ Pa s.
