Record #118743:

Radio-echo soundings along the lowermost part of the Baileys Ice Stream in the Filchner Ice Shelf basin / Per Holmlund.

Title: Radio-echo soundings along the lowermost part of the Baileys Ice Stream in the Filchner Ice Shelf basin / Per Holmlund.
Author(s): Holmlund, Per.
Date: 1992.
In: Filchner Ronne Ice Shelf Programme. Report. (1992.), Vol. 6 (1992)
Abstract: These soundings were made as part of study of mass balance; aim was to map thickness of ice shelf and to analyze echoes with respect to differences in received signal strengths in order to achieve qualitative view of where base of shelf is melting and where sea water is freezing on to base. These conditions may cause differences in salinity that are strong enough to be detectable by radio echo-sounder.
