Abstract: Spatial and temporal variations in extent of seasonal snow cover of upper reaches of Yellow River were studied systematically by means of NOAA, Landsat, MSS and TM images, supported by ground-truth data. Effects of changing areal extent of snow cover on river flow were also examined.
