Abstract: Model calculations do not support attributions of fresh-water influx in Bay of Bengal at last glacial maximum to either increased runoff due to north-east winter monsoon or to increase in Arabian sea-surface temperature caused by weakening of south-west monsoon. Instead, increased discharge of glacial meltwater from Tibetan plateau is invoked as cause. Proxy climate data from Indo-Tibetan region provides evidence of warming event around last glacial maximum.
