Record #118490:

The last interglacial--glacial period on Spitsbergen, Svalbard / Jan Mangerud, John Inge Svendsen.

Title: The last interglacial--glacial period on Spitsbergen, Svalbard / Jan Mangerud, John Inge Svendsen.
Author(s): Mangerud, Jan.
Svendsen, John Inge.
Date: 1992.
In: Quaternary Science Reviews. (1992.), Vol. 11(6) (1992)
Abstract: Glaciation history of this Eemian--Weichselian (130 ka) period of Svalbard and north-west Barents Sea is reconstructed, based on studies of sediments exposed in coastal cliffs at head of Isfjorden. Four till beds separated by marine sediments are recognized, reflecting different climatic conditions. Postulated that Quaternary glaciations of Svalbard were driven by orbital variations with 41 ka tilt period, in contrast to Scandinavian glaciations that were partly driven by precession cycle with periodicity of 23 ka.
