Abstract: Purpose of Arctic-91 international expedition was to calibrate and validate interpretation algorithms for the ERS-1 synthetic aperture radar. Helicopter-borne videocamera was used to collect information about sea-ice. This paper focuses on digital analysis of video images and outcome of use of video as ground truthing.
