Abstract: Propagation of normally incident waves into shore-fast sea ice is studied using development of authors' model, which includes damping term in ice-sheet boundary condition, and is based on plate equation proposed by Robinson and Palmer (1990). New model predicts that principal ice-coupled wave will experience attenuation as it advances, and that structure of other permissible solutions of dispersion equation is also changed. Theory is then compared with only dataset available at present, from Randfjord, Spitsbergen.
