Abstract: Presents analysis of long-term bearing capacity of floating ice plates under static or quasi-static loading conditions. Formulation is based on bending theory of composite laminated structures. Focuses on time and temperature effects due to creep properties of ice and nonuniform temperature distribution across ice thickness. Numerical results are obtained by means of two-step solution procedure, which combines quasi-elastic approximation method and finite-element analysis.
