Abstract: Documents for first time decrease in atmospheric ozone column density during solar proton events, ground level events (GLEs) - events with protons having energy exceeding 50 MeV and penetrating down to ground level. Reports measurement of significant decreases from Longyearbyen and Barentsburg and identifies similar events in Antarctica.
