Record #118257:

Spatial pattern of increases and decreases in the length of the sea ice season in the north polar region, 1979-1986 / Claire L. Parkinson.

Title: Spatial pattern of increases and decreases in the length of the sea ice season in the north polar region, 1979-1986 / Claire L. Parkinson.
Author(s): Parkinson, Claire L.
Date: 1992.
In: Journal of Geophysical Research. (1992.), Vol. 97(C9) (1992)
Abstract: Based on Nimbus 7 scanning multichannel microwave radiometer (SMMR) for 8.8-year period (1979-86). Length of ice season was mapped for each full year and trends over eight years in ice season lengths were also mapped. Trends show considerable spatial coherence: shortening in sea-ice season was apparent in much of eastern half of northern polar region (especially Okhotsk, Barents and Kara seas), and lengthening in sea-ice season was apparent in much of western half (especially Davis Strait and Labrador and Beaufort seas)
Notes:
