Abstract: Variations of surface backscattering of ice ridges for frequency 5.3 GHz is examined with 3-D geometrical model for ice ridges and small-scale perturbation theory. Multiple reflections not included. Most important ridge properties for low-salinity ice were small-scale surface roughness, dielectric constant and detailed ridge geometry parameters. Incidence angle distribution of ice ridge is also affected by minor facets of ice blocks.
