Shock reponse of snow. Analysis of experimental methods and constitutive model development / Jerome B. Johnson, Jay A. Brown, Edward S. Gaffney, George L. Blaisdell, Daniel J. Solie.

Title: Shock reponse of snow. Analysis of experimental methods and constitutive model development / Jerome B. Johnson, Jay A. Brown, Edward S. Gaffney, George L. Blaisdell, Daniel J. Solie.
Author(s): Johnson, Jerome B.
Brown, Jay A.
Gaffney, Edward S.
Blaisdell, George L.
Solie, Daniel J.
Date: 1992.
In: CRREL Report. (1992.), Vol. 92-12 (1992)
Abstract: Has application to planetary sciences, cold regions and military engineering, and shock isolation. Discusses results of shock impact test conducted on snow with initial density of 400 kg m⁻³ using large-diameter gas gun and Lagrangian stress gauges between layers of snow. Dynamic finite-element analysis was used to interpret data, to construct constitutive relationship for snow, and to examine importance of release waves.
Notes:

Keywords: 551.578.46 -- Snow cover and snow patches.
534.2 -- Acoustics in ice.
519.673 -- Modelling.
