Record #118209:

Late Weichselian marine stratigraphy of the southern Kattegat, Scandinavia: evidence for drainage of the Baltic Ice Lake between 12,700 and 10,300 years BP / Helene Bergsten, Kjell Nordberg.

Title: Late Weichselian marine stratigraphy of the southern Kattegat, Scandinavia: evidence for drainage of the Baltic Ice Lake between 12,700 and 10,300 years BP / Helene Bergsten, Kjell Nordberg.
Author(s): Bergsten, Helene.
Nordberg, Kjell.
Date: 1992.
In: Boreas. (1992.), Vol. 21(3) (1992)
Abstract: From stratigraphic investigations of 38 cores, four facies can be defined. Continuous record of Late Weichselian sediments cannot be established from single cores but, by compiling relative stratigraphies, composite record can be determined for sediments deposited between 13.5 and 10 ka BP. Appears that Baltic Ice Lake drained suddenly through Öresund Strait about 12.7 ka BP. Drainage route was unchanged until 10.3 ka BP, when passage opened in south-central Sweden through which final drainage took place.
