Fracture toughness of granular freshwater ice / L.J. Weber, Wilfrid A. Nixon.
Title: | Fracture toughness of granular freshwater ice / L.J. Weber, Wilfrid A. Nixon. |
Author(s): | Weber, L. J. Nixon, Wilfrid A. |
Date: | 1992. |
Publisher: | New York: American Society of Mechanical Engineers |
In: | Proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering - 1992. Presented ... Calgary, Alberta, Canada, June 7-12, 1992. Vol. 4 - Arctic/polar technology. (1992.), |
Abstract: | In study on fatigue crack growth in fresh-water ice, fracture toughness tests were carried out on randomly oriented granular polycrystalline fresh-water ice at -5 and -20°C. Grain size of samples varied from 1.2 to 1.8 mm. Results suggest that fracture toughness is independent of grain size and temperature for ranges considered. |
