Abstract: Presents analyses which illustrate application of plasticity theory to analysis of problem of indenter pushed into ice sheet at moderate rate. Results suggest that use of finite-element solution utilizing appropriate failure criterion for ice represents important element in analysis of ice-structure interaction problems, particularly those in which structure shape and deformations may be important.
