| Abstract: | Describes field project to measure large-scale pack-ice stresses and to study ridge-building forces. Stresses were measured in three multiyear floes in southern Beaufort Sea by means of 18 stressmeter rosettes monitored from mid-March to late May 1991; during this time, floes moved about 200 km. Each floe cracked and ridges built up in two. |
