Abstract: | Control of frozen ground to prevent thawing, in order to stabilize foundations. Evaporator section was horizontal and finned condenser section was vertical. Internal device was used to return part of condensate to far end of evaporator. Unit conductance values were obtained for wind speeds ranging from 0 to 2.4 m s⁻¹ directed at condenser section. These values were used in finite-element analysis to determine if they were adequate for foundation design in frozen ground. |
