Abstract: Compares four methods: generalized Stefan method, which incorporates thawing index; two-region Neumann solution, in which time-dependent ground-surface temperature is approximated by equivalent constant temperature; coupled integral equations approach; and two-term perturbation solution. First two methods have been used previously; last two are new to this application.
