In: Last deglaciation : absolute and radiocarbon chronologies. (1992.),
Abstract: Method based on comparison between transfer function estimates of sea-surface temperature and planktonic δ¹⁸O records. Shows that, during Younger Dryas, surface salinity of North Atlantic Ocean, corrected for mean salinity increase due to continental ice sheets over Canada and northern Europe, was significantly smaller than at present. During last glacial to interglacial transition, and superimposed over salinity decrease associated with melting of continental ice sheets, episodes of warming in North Atlantic were associated with saline waters whereas cold episodes were associated with lower salinity/δ¹⁸O waters.
