Record #117910:

On flow model dating of stable isotope records from Greenland ice cores / S.J. Johnsen, Willi Dansgaard.

Title: On flow model dating of stable isotope records from Greenland ice cores / S.J. Johnsen, Willi Dansgaard.
Author(s): Johnsen, S. J.
Dansgaard, Willi.
Date: 1992.
Publisher: Berlin: Springer
In: Last deglaciation : absolute and radiocarbon chronologies. (1992.),
Abstract: Continuous surface-to bedrock ice core recovered from summit of small separate ice cap on Renland peninsula, East Greenland, in 1988 has been dated by new ice-flow model, based on assumption that ice close to bottom is of Eemian origin. Flow model takes into account special ice flow at Summit station, which is characterized by lack of shear stresses, and enhanced flow in relatively thin layer of soft silty ice at bedrock. Applying same dating technique on Camp Century and Dye 3 deep cores leads to good correlation between δ¹⁸O profiles along cores. ¹⁰Be and volcanic ash spikes in deep cores are dated in essential agreement with independent datings.
