Record #117709:

Multiple glaciations and sea level changes, northern Ellesmere Island, high Arctic Canada / Donald S. Lemmen, John England.

Title: Multiple glaciations and sea level changes, northern Ellesmere Island, high Arctic Canada / Donald S. Lemmen, John England.
Author(s): Lemmen, Donald S.
England, John.
Date: 1992.
In: Boreas. (1992.), Vol. 21(2) (1992)
Abstract: Reviews glacial history of island, emphasizing Late Wisconsinan events, and presents new geomorphic and geochronologic data from Marvin Peninsula and Ward Hunt Island. Examines critically use of amino acid analyses for regional correlations, emphasizing that interpretations require recognition of different thermal histories between shell samples. Suggests that large ice volume associated with oldest recognized glaciation relates to period of reduced sea-ice cover, about >400 ka BP, and may correlate with interglacial stage of marine oxygen isotope record.
