Record #117571:

"To relieve those shipwrecked": the Royal Navy and the Iles Crozet, 1876-77 / Ian R. Stone.

Title: "To relieve those shipwrecked": the Royal Navy and the Iles Crozet, 1876-77 / Ian R. Stone.
Author(s): Stone, Ian R.
Date: 1992.
In: Polar Record. (1992.), Vol. 28(167) (1992)
Abstract: Describes contents of 19th century British government correspondence concerning sub-Antarctic waters, unusual in an era when British interest in polar matters was focused on Arctic. Although the Admiralty recommended a Pacific route northerly enough to avoid the hazards including icebergs, more usual route for trade with Australia and New Zealand lay farther to south.
