Abstract: Examines details of design and construction of each of nine huts (three Scandinavian, three British and three Australian) erected during Heroic Age of Antarctic exploration and considers factors contributing to success or failure of huts. Factors include theoretical thermal efficiency of design and construction materials, effectiveness of heating and ventilation systems, and space allotment per expeditioner.
