Abstract: | Describes visits to Nyland, Åland, and various parts of Finland including Oulu, Lapland and Pasvik, with accounts of Petsamo/Pechenga monastery, and East Karelia. Lifestyles include settled, with certain improvements such as drainage, pivoted well-head, and nomadic, milking reindeer, for drying milk or cheese-making, with traditional handled bowl, or pole-fishing for pearl mussels. Several photographs of (then) vanishing ways of life, some by Samuli Paulaharju. |
