Abstract: Moult studied in Aptenodytes forsteri in Terre Adélie and in Aptenodytes patagonica in Îles Crozet. Specific adaptations determined from differences observed in body mass loss and in plasma metabolites and hormones in moulting and nonmoulting (i.e. breeding) fasting birds.
